The Ice Trap
My fingers slip on the ice
trying for a grip
Then I’m freezing my ass off
at the bottom of the pit
I jump as high as I can
trying for leverage outside the pit
to pull myself from this freezing hole
I land on my ass again
My fingers are freezing
and so is my face
My heart’s beating heavy
and my mind’s a nervous wreck
“What if I get stuck down here?
Has anybody noticed me gone
What if they all leave me here alone?
To freeze and die.”
Sort’ve reminds me of the time Grandma and Grandpa took us up
to the snow so we could slide around on those saucer things.
I was soaring downhill and hit a bump.
I flew right into a hole in the ice.

Yeah, there’s a song called “Trapped Under Ice” by Metallica. I was having a pretty rough time, doing better now.

Well..i’m so glad that Grandma and Grandpa were there to save you!
And i’m wagering you don’t go to close to icy holes
either..
In the time of now..coming snow soon!
if! ya live close to icy holes!
then.

Definitely scary to be stuck and cold, metaphorically and literally.

Hope you never have to face those fears, Heaven, but then … you must be an angel!

oh heck…what a frightening experience… i was once playing hide and seek with some nuns in a hospital and crawled into a drawer – when it clicked close and i was in the dark i was getting so afraid that i would never get out there again that i still remember how the fear felt

Yeah, life can sometimes feel like being stuck in an icy hole or a locked drawer.
